The Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE) and the Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology (GASCO) cosponsored a Principal Investigator’s Training on October 3rd, in conjunction with the 2008 GASCO Annual Meeting. Over 50 participants from across the state participated in the training session.The program included presentations on cancer research enterprise in Georgia, overview of good clinical practices, recognizing and managing conflicts of interest, preparing a submission to the institutional review board, economic realities of a clinical trial program in academic, community, and practice settings, and successful recruitment strategies to cancer clinical trials for minority populations: African Americans and the elderly.
