CORE Investigator to Host 1st Annual Cancer Genetics Seminar at DeKalb Medical Cancer Center

Jayanthi Srinivasiah, M.D., Georgia CORE Investigator and Seminar Chair, will moderate the First Annual Cancer Genetics Seminar at the DeKalb Medical Cancer Center on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The program will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m in the Tower Auditorium, Women’s and Surgery Center (Dr. Bobbie Bailey Tower). This 4-hour program will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify individuals at risk for cancer, communicate risk, provide genetic information and develop a personalized cancer risk management plan. The need for providers to integrate genetic research into their clinical practices is rising with the rate of new findings and increasing patient inquiries about hereditary cancer testing. Providers need to learn about current genetic research and tests and how to offer appropriate genetic services in the office setting. Educational methods will include lectures, case presentations and skill-building smallgroup workshops. Fee: $25.00 (Includes continental breakfast, lunch and written materials/handouts) Target Audience:( This program is designed for physicians, nurses, patient navigators and other healthcare providers who are involved with cancer patients and have an interest in incorporating cancer genetics into their practice. Continuing Education DeKalb Medical is accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia to provide continuing medical education for physicians. DeKalb Medical designates this educational activity for a maximum of 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
