Georgia CORE broadens team with Administrative Coordinator

Last summer, Katie Hiebert joined Georgia CORE as Administrative Coordinator. A bright and cheerful addition to the team, Katie provides administrative support to her Georgia CORE colleagues. Her duties include “a little bit of everything, which makes every day different from the one before,” she says. “Particularly with such a small, but mighty crew, I get to be involved with many different projects.”
Katie has always had a passion for helping others. She only recently returned to the U.S., after learning about the world through travel and more than two years of service with the U. S. Peace Corps. As a Peace Corps volunteer, Katie was an English Education consultant with a small school in northeast Moldova, as well as the Director of Training for GLOW Moldova, a youth and female empowerment organization that utilizes peer training to teach young Moldovans everything from nutrition to leadership.
With a bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from New York University, Katie volunteers with Refugee Family Services in Clarkston, Ga., where she mentors 9th and 10th grade refugee girls in both personal and professional development. And while the St. Jude Memphis Marathon for which Katie trained was cancelled last December due to inclement weather, she raised more than $500 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her efforts.
