Buy the tag, help save a life! Georgia's breast cancer license tag program

2/07/2014

Did you know that $22 of the fee for every breast cancer license tag sold or renewed goes to help women in need?

Yes, for each breast cancer license tag purchased or renewed from the Georgia Department of Revenue, $22 of your fee supports grants for organizations that provide screenings, education and treatment for Georgians without insurance that are also below the poverty level.

Georgia CORE administers the Georgia Access, Care, Treatment and Services (ACTS) Breast Cancer Grant on behalf of the Georgia State Office of Rural Health. In 2012, nearly $1.1 million was awarded to 16 community organizations from the sale of breast cancer license tags. Located across the state, these organizations use the funds to expand breast cancer education, screening, access, outreach and treatment to Georgians in need. Another competitive request for proposals was released in February 2014. Georgia CORE will award an additional $600,000 to community organizations serving indigent women in our state.

The more breast cancer license tags sold in Georgia, the more services and education provided to those Georgians that may not otherwise have that access. Please find out how you can purchase a breast cancer license tag by visiting your county tag office.
