Genomics

The Georgia Breast Cancer Genomic Consortium was funded from 2011-2013 as a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control to the Georgia Department of Public Health, administered by Georgia CORE and in partnership with Emory University, Georgia State University and Morehouse School of Medicine. The goal of the consortium is to reduce the cancer burden among high-risk and minority women by focusing on Education, Surveillance and Policy. The Consortium promotes the use of evidence-based guidelines of the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) to improve the identification of young women at genetic risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC).
