Georgia CORE is looking for a part-time consultant to provide medical oversight and collaborate on our clinical studies and programs. In addition, the consultant will serve as the physician collaborator overseeing Georgia CORE’s nurse practitioner for the organization’s statewide genomics program and participate in Board of Directors activities as Georgia CORE’s Chief Medical Officer.The requirements for the CMO are an MD or DO degree and extensive experience in clinical oncology. The team is also looking for excellent interpersonal skills for strong collaboration with the Georgia CORE team and building partnerships across the state with key stakeholders and diverse populations. 

Position Duties:

• Participate in selected Georgia CORE grants as needed for medical expertise.
• Serve as principal investigator for selected Georgia CORE grants in connection with clinical studies and other research projects in which Georgia CORE participates.
• Advise Georgia CORE’s executive leadership and Board of Directors with respect to scientific and research matters, including making recommendations regarding future research opportunities and other projects. This includes attending quarterly Board of Directors meetings and serving on the Executive Committee as the Chief Medical Officer.
• Oversee the Collaborative Seed grant selection process, in collaboration with the Chair of the Research Committee.
• Work with the Director of Clinical and Screening Activities to identify and participate in academic collaborations with Georgia’s medical schools and research universities including grant partnerships and scholarly publications.
• Approve Standard Operating Procedures for research oversight and advise the Director of Research Strategy and Operations as needed.
• Meet with partner organizations and COC-accredited hospital staff as needed.
