Spread awareness about cancer survivorship needs
5/16/2024, Georgia CORE
We know that the various challenges that Georgia’s cancer survivors face don't always end with their treatment. For National Cancer Survivorship Month this June, Georgia CORE alongside the Survivorship Working Group of the Georgia Comprehensive Cancer Control Consortium are highlighting the needs of cancer survivors across Georgia through an awareness campaign that shines a light on this special group of individuals.
Additionally, we have developed a toolkit for healthcare professionals, advocates, and friends of survivors to spread awareness about cancer survivorship needs and the increased importance of self-care during the cancer survivorship journey. We invite you to join our efforts by learning more about the needs of survivors and helping us spread the word about these unmet needs and the resources needed to address them.
LEARN MORE ABOUT SURVIVORSHIP
A needs assessment survey revealed a wide range of struggles that can be best grouped as…
Physical: A lasting toll from chemotherapy, radiation, and other treatments, chronic pain
Practical: Mounting debt and difficulty resuming work and responsibilities
Emotional: Depression and a powerful fear of cancer returning
Spiritual: Loss of faith or hope, even end-of-life thoughts
Georgia CORE researched resources available in our state and developed materials for survivors and their caregivers to address these side effects.
