GEORGIA NCI COMMUNITY ONCOLOGY RESEARCH PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

What is Georgia NCORP?

Georgia NCORP (GA NCORP) is the Georgia NCI Community Oncology Research Program, one of 34 National Cancer Institute (NCI) community-based programs across the country. Georgia NCORP provides Georgians in both rural and urban areas with access to state-of-the-art cancer prevention, screening, control, treatment and post-treatment trials. The program currently has over 70 clinical trials open, with over 100 physicians in 41 different locations throughout the state who have accrued over 450 patients to clinical trials (over 23% racial and ethnic minority patients) with the clinical trial network leadership of Georgia CORE

What has GA NCORP achieved?
  • Recognized as a nationally high-performing program by the NCI
  • Ranked in the top 5 programs nationally by NRG Oncology
  • Affiliated with national research bases, including NRG Oncology, ECOG-ACRIN, Wake Forest and SWOG
  • Increased access and accrual to cancer clinical trials for Georgians at risk or with a diagnosis of cancer in their own communities

How is Georgia NCORP involved in local communities?

With over 100 oncology clinical providers in 41 locations throughout the state, the Georgia NCORP partnership is poised to provide more Georgia residents living in both urban and rural areas with improved access to an expanded portfolio of state-of-the-art cancer prevention control screening, treatment, and post-treatment clinical trials, as well as cancer care delivery research. This community-based approach has the potential to remove barriers to accessing care, reduced cancer risk and incidence, and improve cancer care outcomes in Georgia.
